HICAP SERVICES OF NORTHERN CALIFORNIA #4661319
Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy (HICAP) offers free local, individualized information and advocacy for Medicare beneficiaries and individuals becoming eligible within the next six months. Provides assistance to seniors or disabled persons with Medicare issues, including denials and appeals, supplemental insurance, and long term care insurance.
Volunteer HICAP Medicare counselors provide free, unbiased, and individualized counseling by appointment only.
HICAP aims to return phone messages within 2 business days, but it may be longer.

The Seniors First Information & Assistance program assists Placer County seniors (aged 60 and older) get the resources and assistance they need to remain healthy and independent.
If you live outside of Placer County or do not meet their age criteria, they may be able to direct you to the agency or organization that can help you.

Information and Assistance Line
Seniors First provides a free information and assistance hotline for Placer County seniors and their families. Information and Assistance Specialists are available to take your call, Mon– Fri from 8am- 4:30pm.
Seniors First Resource Guide
Seniors First also publishes a printed Placer County Resource Guide every two years. The guide includes listings for associations, businesses, nonprofits and government agencies that provide programs and services for local seniors and their families/caregivers.

Medicare is a federal health insurance program for people 65 or older, and some younger people with disabilities. To apply for Medicare, you need to go through the federal government - you can apply online at Medicare.gov. If you have Medicare coverage, Medi-Cal may be able to pay your Medicare Part B premiums through a Medicare Savings Plan.
