Gold County Senior Services provides senior nutrition programs for older adults in Western Nevada County. They provide hot nutritious meals in a warm and friendly setting that provides older adults an opportunity to socialize. Each meal is prepared fresh and from scratch.

How to Join In

Anyone 60 years of age and older is encouraged to attend. Other individuals may attend as guests for a fee. On your first visit to the Congregate Lunch Café, you will be asked to complete a participant information form.

Suggested voluntary contribution $3.00 per day.

Please note that no eligible senior will be denied participation in the program because of failure or inability to contribute.

The Eastern Regional Landfill Material Recovery Facility (MRF) and Transfer Station provides landfill services.

There is no senior discount for use of the transfer station.

For questions about senior discount eligibility for residential service, call 530-583-7800. Eligibility requirements include being a full time resident at the service address and being enrolled in the CARE utility payment assistance plan through the electric utility provider.

  • Access & Functional Needs (AFN) - Low-income senior residents or those with medical disabilities may qualify for assistance with defensible space clearing.
  • Defensible Space Advisory Visit (DSAV) - This program provides a one-on-one consultation at your home for comprehensive education on compliance with defensible space requirements around structures.
  • Chipping Program - The Fire Safe Council of Nevada County offers low-cost ($75/hr) chipping of brush cleared for defensible space of any permanent structure, and/or 30 feet from any roadside or driveway used for evacuation purposes.
