Animal Care Services of the Marysville Police Department provides service to citizens in the 3.5 square miles of the City.

Services Offered:

  • Animal Rescue: Assists with injured, stray, or deceased animals and wildlife.
  • Trap–Neuter–Return (TNR): Controls feral cat populations.
  • Ordinance Enforcement: Handles barking complaints, animal cruelty, and neglect.
  • Bite Investigations: Responds to and investigates animal bite incidents.
  • After-Hours Emergency Support: Police patrol responds to urgent animal issues.
  • Dog Licensing: Required for dogs 4+ months; available online, by mail, or in person.

The Animal Control department oversees Animal Control Operations and the Sammie's Friends Animal Shelter.

Services include:

  • Impounding stray animals or owned animals running at large
  • Investigation of nuisance complaints (i.e. barking)
  • Investigating animal bites
  • Dog licensing throughout the unincorporated areas of Nevada County.

Shelter services, including lost or found pets and adoptions, are run by Sammie's Friends.

In the event of disasters and emergencies, the Animal Control department of the Nevada County Sheriff's Office oversees animal evacuation.

Animal Evacuation information is event specific. Details will come from the Nevada County Office of Emergency Services. Though animal evac may be at the Nevada County fairgrounds, it may somewhere else if, for example, there is an event underway at the fairgrounds.
