In the event of disasters and emergencies, the Animal Control department of the Nevada County Sheriff's Office oversees animal evacuation.

Animal Evacuation information is event specific. Details will come from the Nevada County Office of Emergency Services. Though animal evac may be at the Nevada County fairgrounds, it may somewhere else if, for example, there is an event underway at the fairgrounds.

Plans, supervises, coordinates and participates in the enforcement of State and Town ordinances governing the keeping of domestic animals, including coordinating animal adoptions, licensing dogs and responding to reports of animals at large. Provides for public protection and assuring the humane treatment of animals. Maintains animal shelter.

Grass Valley Police Department provides a full-service community policing organization. Offers the following:
  • Animal Control services for both Grass Valley and Nevada City.
