Animal Services is a Division of County of Placer Health & Human Services. There are Animal Shelters in Auburn and Truckee.

ANIMAL CONTROL SERVICES
We provide many services to residents, businesses, and law enforcement agencies within Placer County, including:
- Responding to loose, injured, or dead animals on public and county roads
- Animal abuse and neglect investigations
- Emergency assistance to law enforcement agencies
- County-wide rabies control
- Education on humane treatment of animals
- Responding to reports of barking dogs and stray animals
- Enforcing state law and county ordinances regulating animal care and welfare
- Inspection of commercial kennels
- Investigating animal bites and rabies exposure
