Auburn Adventist Community Services, at the Auburn Seventh-day Adventist Church, has been around since the 1970s and offers a variety of services for families and individuals who are in need, out of work or simply find that the month lasts longer than the paychecks every once in a while. • Showers for unsheltered people are available Monday (9 am - 12 noon. Will have to walk upstairs). For handicapped showers available Monday, call ahead of time for ARC (530-887-8673) located in the back of the parking lot.

Auburn Renewal Center (ARC) is a free medical clinic located on the grounds of the Auburn Seventh-day Adventist church. Auburn Renewal Center offers basic medical services to the under-insured, uninsured, and unsheltered residents of the greater Auburn area. Clinic is primarily for people 18 years old, low income, uninsured, under-insured, unsheltered. Children over 8 can be seen on a case by case basis.

Services are every Tuesday 9am-1pm, and Thursdays by appointment.

The 2024 California CareForce Sacramento Valley Free Health Care Clinic will be Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Sept 13, 14, and 15. It will happen with support from community organizations, and professional and general volunteers. Over the two and a half days, hundreds of patients will receive medical, dental, and vision services free of charge.

The clinic is open to anyone needing services (people do not need to be Nevada County residents).

The clinic requires a multitude of volunteers. Professional medical volunteers are needed to complete the general medical, dental and vision exams and procedures. General volunteers are needed to help with setup, prep, food service and other odd jobs during the three days. See below for links to info about how to volunteer.

Medi-Cal is California's Medicaid program. This is a public health insurance program which provides needed health care services for low-income individuals including families with children, seniors, persons with disabilities, foster care, pregnant people, and low income people with specific diseases such as tuberculosis, breast cancer, or HIV/AIDS.

Medi-Cal is free or low-cost for California residents who meet eligibility requirements. Medi-Cal considers income, but there is no asset limit (bank accounts, cash, property, vehicles).

Most applicants who apply through Covered California and enroll in Medi-Cal will receive care through managed health care plans. In Nevada and Placer Counties, the managed care provider is Partnership HealthPlan of California (PHC). Medi-Cal is financed equally by the state and federal government. Medi-Cal offers medical, dental, vision and mental health care to eligible individuals and families at little or no cost. If you are ineligible to Medi-Cal, affordable insurance plans are available through the health benefits exchange, Covered California, during their November through December open enrollment.
