The Jason Foundation is dedicated to the prevention of the “Silent Epidemic” of youth suicide through educational and awareness programs that equip young people, educators/youth workers and parents with the tools and resources to help identify and assist at-risk youth.
JFI believes that awareness and education are the first steps to prevention. They want to establish a Triangle of Prevention by providing students, parents and teachers the tools and resources to help identify and help at-risk youth. This is accomplished through a curriculum unit for students and informational seminars for teachers and parents. The programs provide resources to accomplish this goal. The materials are easy to use and are intended to provide educational information. There is no intent to diagnose or treat suicidal ideation. SUICIDE LOSS SURVIVOR SUPPORT SERVICES - FFS

FRIENDS FOR SURVIVAL #51515476


Friends For Survival, Inc. is a non-profit outreach organization open to those who have lost family or friends by suicide, and also to professionals who work with those who have been touched by a suicide tragedy.

FFS offers a bereavement support group for family and friends after a suicide death, including peer support and education for survivors through monthly meetings, publications, monthly newsletter, and book lending library. Provides speakers bureau available for workshops and conferences and information and referral for additional resources.

Spirit Peer Empowerment Center offers support groups for people experiencing homelessness and/or mental health challenges.

Support services include:
  • Staff can administer naloxone Narcan in case of opioid overdose (naloxone is the drug, Narcan is a brand)
  • Housing Circle - assists with completing low income apartment applications, Craigslist searching, housing advocacy, and more. Call 530-274-1431 for meeting time info.
  • WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan) education, an eight week course supporting individuals to succeed at the goals they set for themselves, including looking at triggers and addictions and ways to get beyond them
  • Food distribution to those in need
  • Hot showers for program participants - They offer 5 showers per day, 10am-1:30pm. It's recommended to be there a bit before they open at 10am to get one as they are first come, first served. Shower is ADA-compliant, but not roll in. Please notify in advance if needed.

VIP ManAlive offers Peer Re-Education classes for men to gain an awareness of and learn how to recover from being emotionally, verbally and physically abusive and violent and/or controlling.

A sliding scale class fee is available. No obligation to check out first class. Addresses Anger Management problems, and meets Placer County’s probation requirements for a Domestic Violence 52-week program. Call for current class locations and times.
