NCSOS offers Special Education services programs described on web pages listed below.

The NCSOS Special Education Local Planning Area (SELPA) provides leadership and support to create and sustain educational programs for children with special needs by working closely with school districts, educational staff, parents and families, and community agencies.

Functions of the SELPA include:

• Support for families including information regarding the IEP (Individualized Education Program) process, and meaningful participation in their child's educational program
• Development of policies and procedures
• Interagency coordination
• Program Specialist support for students and districts
• Assistance with problem solving and conflict resolution relating to the IEP process.

The Nevada County Superintendent of Schools office provides educational, financial, and student support programs for almost 12,000 students in Nevada County.
