Community Beyond Violence offers a 24 hour crisis line which is available 365 days a year to victims in crisis from domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, or dating violence, and for their friends or family members. Advocate/Counselors are available 24 hours a day for counseling and response to the hospital or law enforcement. Depending on circumstances, possible emergency transportation, food, and shelter may be available to those in crisis. All services are free, confidential and non-discriminatory.

Stand Up Placer's 24-hour crisis line advocates offer support, resources, and referrals to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking and their families. If you are unsure if you are a victim, this is a good first step for you to take on your path to safety and healing.

Be sure to follow these precautions:
  • Call from a safe location, away from your abuser, so that he/she is not aware that you are planning on leaving or where you are going.
  • Be mindful of calling the Crisis Line from your home or your cell phone if your abuser has access to your phone bills or records.
  • If your abuser attempts to locate you after you leave, finding that you called Stand Up Placer Crisis Line may alert him/her to which agency is assisting you.

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) volunteers are trained, then assigned by the court to mentor foster youth and act as the "eyes and ears of the judge and the voice of the child." Through court reports and court appearances, CASA volunteers state the child’s wishes and provide the court with recommendations as to what actions would be in the child’s best interests. We also assign CASAs to youth in Delinquency Court, and most recently, to youth involved in sex trafficking.

Child Welfare Services responds to child abuse and neglect reports 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Reports may be made at any time. All referrals are investigated within mandated timeframes.

Nevada County Child Welfare Services (CWS), formerly Child Protective Services or CPS, is dedicated to protecting children from abuse and neglect. CWS works with families to ensure the safety of their children and to help them reach their full potential. If children cannot be safely cared for in their homes, CWS strives to place them with families that can make a lifelong commitment to them. CWS collaborates with the community toward safe, healthy, happy children and strong families. CWS operates under state and federal mandates to respond to child abuse and neglect.

Child Advocates of Placer County offers programs that support and work with children and youth.
  • The Be Bold Youth Program pairs youth with an adult partner who will become someone they can trust, learn with, and grow alongside. Youth will meet weekly for fun-centered and life skill building activities. They will also come together bi-monthly with a larger group of young people who are determined to grow and strengthen themselves while being a strong support system for one another. Some of the topics covered are self-care, sex and relationships, goal setting, budgeting, and figuring out burning questions like what the heck happens after age 18.
