The Hunger Relief Program, formerly Project MANA, is a food pantry that provides hunger relief services through weekly food distributions and other community food programs. All services are free and available in English and Spanish.

Sierra Community House Food Distributions

Tahoe Truckee Unified School District provides free meals for students through its Food & Nutrition Services Go to www.ttusd.org/food to see when and where food is available.

Free meals
Tahoe Truckee Unified School District (TTUSD) is providing free "Grab and Go" meals for all children and young adults with disabilities (age 24 and younger). Each Wednesday or Thursday, seven days of meals will be offered including 7 breakfasts, 7 lunches, fresh fruits, vegetables, and milk. (All items will be provided as vendor's supplies are available, weather and emergencies permit.) See locations and schedule online at www.ttusd.org/food.

Meals will be distributed until June 30, 2022.

Free meals are for
  1. Any child, aged 18 and younger
  2. Any young adult with developmental disabilities aged 24 and younger

Participants do not need to be enrolled in a TTUSD school site. Parents or students may pick up meals from any location.

CalFresh is a food supplement program, formerly known as Food Stamps or SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), that helps qualified individuals obtain nutritious food.

ELIGIBILITY 
Many CalFresh customers work and are considered low income. Others may be unable to work due to lack of work or inability to work; individuals receiving Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI and SSD), and Social Security are eligible for CalFresh. Individuals receiving or authorized to receive SSI/SSP (Supplemental Security Income/State Supplemental Payment) are eligible for CalFresh, provided all other eligibility criteria are met.

2023 CalFresh Market Money (also known as Market Match) runs June 3 - Nov 18, 2023

Spend CalFresh dollars at Western Nevada County Farmers Markets and receive up to a $15 match per market every week. Come to the Farmers Market booth, show EBT card and photo ID (must be a Nevada County resident), then Market Match tokens will be given to match EBT purchases (up to $15). Tokens can be used to buy food at participating farm stands. Market Match will be available at the TUESDAY and SATURDAY and markets. See times and locations below. Market Money can be used June 3 - Nov 18, 2023. Dates below are for the entire farmers market summer and fall season.

Offers a nutrition, breastfeeding and health education program that helps pregnant women, mothers with new babies, and young children, under age 5 years, eat well and stay healthy. Families receive checks to purchase nutritious foods at grocery stores. Legal guardians such as fathers, foster parents, and grandparents can receive checks on behalf of children.
