Services
The Behavioral Health Department provides a wide variety of Adult Mental Health Services to the public, particularly for Medi-Cal recipients and those with severe mental illness. These include Mental Health Services and Alcohol and Other Drug Services. County employees provide some services, while contracted individuals and organizations provide other services, with County monitoring.

Service Range
This continuum of care ranges from acute inpatient to routine outpatient services, and includes medication services, psychotherapy, residential services, wellness and recovery, care management, long term institutional care and vocational services. Adult Services monitors the delivery of services to ensure that State standards are met for quality, timeliness and authorization.

California HOPE (CalHOPE) delivers crisis phone support and a warm line for communities impacted by a national disaster. This is a Crisis Counseling Assistance and Training Program (CCP) funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and run by the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS).

The Cirby Wellness Center offers an array of wellness services all in one place. Activities are facilitated by both peer and professional staff. The activities offered at the Wellness Center are free of cost and designed to foster a sense of community and shared recovery.

The Wellness Center features:

Activities are free of cost. Participants are not required to pay for any portion. Any materials and equipment needed for the groups will be provided. Participants only need to arrive with an open mind and willingness to try new things.

The Community Connection Center helps to ensuring that every Grass Valley School District student receives the support they need to succeed. By connecting families with essential resources and addressing barriers to success, we aim to help every student reach their full potential.

The Petal Connection is an incredible group of volunteers who deliver joy to hospice patients and seniors in our community. Flowers are repurposed to create colorful bedside bouquets using flowers and vases that are donated from local grocers, florists, local floral growers, corporate events, weddings, and community members. Donated flowers are lovingly arranged into beautiful bouquets and delivered to those who need them the most! Such a simple gesture makes a big difference in our community. As a member of the Nevada County Aging and Disability Resource Connection (ADRC), FREED assists people in making informed decisions about their short- or long–term care needs, and helps them make a plan to be able to live as they want in the community.

The ADRC helps individuals form a realistic view of what the community options in Nevada County really are. The consumer is encouraged to sit down with the ADRC Navigator to make an action plan and then become responsible for carrying out the steps of the plan.

A sample plan might include contacting family members for their input, contacting a financial advisor or planner to help with the money issues, or gathering information from local agencies on energy assistance or low cost telephone programs. It is up to the person to follow through on the plan but assistance from the ADRC Navigator is readily available if needed. A follow-up call will be made to see if the plan has been successful or if an amended plan is needed.
