Youth Empowerment Support (YES!) is a program that supports youth and young adults through direct support, training, groups and leadership/system change opportunities.

YES! is a program of Whole Person Learning (WPL), a public agency that empowers youth and young adults to thrive in their communities by using a collaborative, individually tailored positive youth development approach.

You Have Rights Too! is a project of the YES Program and provides support for youth between the ages of 12 and 26. Youth Coordinators help to accomplish goals by providing information and referrals for resources, identifying support systems, empowerment, education and advocacy, placement options. Program is focused on filling in the gaps when youth or young adults cannot access other supports to meet their identified needs. Support is voluntary and is offered on an as needed basis.

Users who call the toll-free number 1-800-FREE-411 (1-800-373-3411) use an automated voice recognition system that asks for a location (city and state), type of listing (business, government, or residential), and name. Once the service has located an entry for the requested number, it reads the information aloud and offers callers the option of connecting to the number by pressing a single number on their telephone keypad.

The way it works is that a caller who requests a business number is first presented with a short (about 12 seconds) audio advertisement for a sponsor who operates a competing business in that area; the caller is then given the option of being connected to either that competitor or the business originally requested. CA COVID-19 Rent Relief is a state-wide program for renters and landlords. If you are an income eligible landlord or renter in Nevada County and need help with past due, current, or future rent or utilities because of a financial hardship caused by COVID-19, you may be eligible for assistance through the CA COVID-19 Rent Relief program. Payments will be made directly to landlords and utility providers. 

Applications opened on March 17, 2021. For Nevada County, this statewide rent relief is available through Housing Is Key. AMI Housing provides rent relief in Nevada County and will contact eligible applicants who apply through the state's website (HousingIsKey.com) or the state COVID-19 Rent Relief Call Center (833-430-2122).

RECOVERY NAVIGATORS FOR NEVADA COUNTY RESIDENTS
Connecting Point offers Recovery Navigators for Nevada County residents impacted by the River Fire. Call 211 or 833-342-5211 to receive a referral to a Navigator who will contact you within one business day to offer assistance during your recovery process.

Navigators will work one-on-one with individuals and families that have been impacted by the River Fire. Meeting regularly and as needed, the Navigators will be able to work with you step-by-step throughout the recovery process, provide you with resources for any need that comes up, navigate the County, State, Federal re-building processes that you will encounter, advocate for additional resources as needed, provide a physical place where you can print, fax, email, and copy documents, and keep you up to date with any updates as they are released.
