CalWORKs & Employment Services are a part of Human Services, one of six Divisions of the County of Placer Health & Human Services.

If you are an adult with dependent children, you may be eligible for California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids, or CalWORKs. CalWORKs provides:

• Child care, work expense assistance, transportation, and counseling
• Education, employment, and training programs through Employment Services
• Families with children financial assistance to meet their basic needs
• Support for families moving toward self-sufficiency

If you are eligible for CalWORKs you will automatically qualify for Medi-Cal and may also qualify for CalFresh. Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) provides job training to Placer County residents aged 55 and over. SCSEP is a community service and work-based training program for older workers. Authorized by the Older Americans Act, the program provides subsidized, service-based training for low-income (not more than 125% of the established federal poverty guidelines) persons at least 55 years of age who are unemployed and have poor employment prospects. Participants in the SER SCSEP come from all walks of life, have diverse work experiences, and possess various levels of education.

Child Advocates of Placer County offers programs that support and work with children and youth.

• The Be Bold Youth Program pairs youth with an adult partner who will become someone they can trust, learn with, and grow alongside. Youth will meet weekly for fun-centered and life skill building activities. They will also come together bi-monthly with a larger group of young people who are determined to grow and strengthen themselves while being a strong support system for one another. Access in Motion serves Medi-Cal beneficiaries who are subscribed directly (and not through other insurance plans). Access in Motion is dedicated to providing on-time, accessible non-emergency medical transportation for the disabled community in Rocklin, Roseville, and surrounding areas in Placer and Sacramento counties. The company specializes in providing mobility services to and from dialysis and other medical appointments for individuals using wheelchairs and walkers or who are simply not able to drive themselves safely. Access in Motion provides door-to-door wheelchair service to ensure that passengers are personally escorted to their destination and safely returned home again.

The Veterans Service Center, opened in March 2015, is equipped with a high speed internet café where veterans can build resumes, apply for jobs, and video chat with friends and family. PG&E championed the project recruiting many local and national companies to add additional support.
