Children's System of Care is one of six Divisions of County of Placer Health & Human Services.

Placer CSOC meets the behavioral needs of at-risk children and their families, through a comprehensive and integrated team of Mental Health, Child Welfare, Probation, Education, Substance Abuse, Public Health nursing professionals and family youth advocates.

Eligibility for Placer Children’s Behavioral Health services includes full scope Medi-Cal beneficiaries. Those who do not meet eligibility criteria are assessed on an individual basis.

Services include:
  • Assessment and referral for mental health services
  • Evaluation and response of suspected child abuse reports
  • Foster youth educational assistance (Placer County Office of Education)
  • Adoptions and Resource Family Approval placements
  • Child welfare services

The mission of the Taylor House is to help former foster youth transition into successful and independent adults.

Placer County Office of Education has a few guitars available to loan out to students in foster care. If you would like to borrow a guitar for the school year or for the summer, please call Craig Gibbs at (530)745-1302. There are a limited amount of guitars, and PCOE lends them out on a first-come, first-served basis.

KEYS is a collaborative partnership between Placer County Office of Education, Department of Rehabilitation and PRIDE Industries.

Placer County foster youth, ages 16-19 years old, are matched with individual Job Developers who provide pre-employment support and assistance with obtaining and retaining employment local in a field of interest.

Eligible youth must have a significant barrier to gaining employment, including a mental health diagnosis, physical disability or special education designation. Proof of eligibility will be requested.
