The Tahoe Truckee Unified School District provides information and updates for Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) and Public Safety Outage Management (PSOM) events that may impact district schools.

Electricity may be turned off in parts of the district by utility providers during periods of heightened wildfire risk, such as:

• Red Flag Warnings
• High winds
• Low humidity
• Extended dry conditions

School Impacts:

• TTUSD will notify families and staff of power outages that may affect the school day
• If a school is expected to be without power, the district may declare a "power day" (similar to a snow day)
• Power days are added to the academic calendar and made up at the end of the school year

Notifications:

• Families may receive alerts through email, text, robocall, the TTUSD app, social media, and school websites

Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) Events

​To protect customers and communities from the risk of wildfire, Liberty will temporarily turn off power when weather conditions present an increased fire risk. Power outages might be prolonged, lasting several days. In partnership with fire weather experts, Liberty monitors real-time weather data and forecasts and regularly tests fuel moisture during the fire season. If it is determined that the forecasted conditions meet or exceed safety thresholds, Liberty will initiate a PSPS.

PSPS Alerts

In the event that a PSPS is a possibility, Liberty will attempt to contact customers through calls, texts and emails, using contact information on file. Call 800-782-2506 to update your account's contact information. An online account can be created through Liberty's website. If you have any difficulty registering your account, please call Customer Care at 800-782-2506 for assistance.

PG&E's Medical Baseline Program, also known as Medical Baseline Allowance, provides residential customers who depend on power for certain medical needs with qualifying medical devices. Devices include equipment used for mobility, per a licensed medical practitioner.

Portable Battery Program (PBP)

PG&E's Portable Battery Program (PBP) provides backup battery power to qualified customers who depend on life-sustaining medical equipment. The program is available before, during, and after Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) events when PG&E needs to turn off power during severe weather for public safety to prevent wildfires.
