The City of Colfax has one staffed and two unstaffed/volunteer fire stations.

Station 30 is staffed and serves the communities of Colfax and Gold Run. The station targets hazards include the Interstate 80 Corridor, UP Railway, Kinder Morgan Pipeline, and the City of Colfax. Station 30 is the upcountry home to the Placer County Technical Rescue Team and serves the rugged canyons and recreation areas of the North Fork of the American River. Station 30 is located at 24020 Fowler Road, Colfax, CA 95713.

Station 36 is an unstaffed/reserve volunteer station and serves the downtown area of the City of Colfax. Station 36 is located at 33 Church street, Colfax CA, 95713.

Station 37 is an unstaffed reserve/volunteer station on the north end of Colfax. It serves the City of Colfax and the area around Rollins Reservoir. Station 37 is located at 139 Oak Street, Colfax, CA 95713.

Seniors First's Telephone Reassurance Program provides homebound seniors with “social calls” by screened and trained volunteers.

The purpose of this free program is to alleviate the loneliness and isolation older adults often experience when living alone, or when residing in a rural area with limited access to transportation or social activities.

Call Reassurance provide weekly in-home social calls and also serve as a resource on community services and programs that can help the client retain their independence and remain in their home as long as they choose.

Seniors must be 60 and over, homebound (no longer driving), and able to interact socially.

Volunteer and senior matches are based on shared interests, geography, volunteer availability and personality as much as possible.

WWJD? (What Would Jesus Do?) Inc. is a nonprofit, non-denominational organization in Western Placer County serving people who are homeless, transitionally homeless, and working poor. From a mobile van in each community at conveniently located sites, they serve their clients a warm breakfast and provide a bag full of food for their dinner. WWJD? can also provide clothing, blankets, tarps, sleeping bags, toiletries, laundry soap, pet food, and other sundries.

WWJD? is an all-volunteer agency providing a mobile food service in the Roseville, Auburn, & Colfax areas of Western Placer County, along with medical care and transportation, referral services for adults and children who are homeless.

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program provides free tax assistance to qualifying individuals and families who earned less than $67,000 in 2024.

The coalition also helps educate the public on the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).

VITA is available through Placer County Health and Human Services in cooperation with IRS and United Way.

Preparation assistance is available online at YourFreeTaxPrep.org or in person by IRS trained volunteers.
