This suite of six online, interactive, and research-proven training simulations are designed to educate community college faculty, staff, and students about best practices in supporting
  1. students who struggle with psychological distress including depression and suicidal ideation
  2. LGBTQ students who are struggling due to harassment or exclusion
  3. student veterans who are facing challenges in adjusting to college life
Each training takes 30-60 minutes to complete and is structured as a virtual practice environment where users learn by engaging in interactive role-play conversations with emotionally responsive student avatars.

The suite is available at no-cost to all California community college faculty, staff, and students.

Children's Mental Health Services

Self-referred individuals or families will either have an appointment scheduled with the Managed Care Unit, Sierra Mental Wellness Group, a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) or a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the Placer County Network, or they will be linked to another appropriate community or agency provider depending on needs and insurance coverage. If you have questions you may call 530-866-5400.

Children's System of Care is one of six Divisions of County of Placer Health & Human Services.

Placer CSOC meets the behavioral needs of at-risk children and their families, through a comprehensive and integrated team of Mental Health, Child Welfare, Probation, Education, Substance Abuse, Public Health nursing professionals and family youth advocates.

Eligibility for Placer Children’s Behavioral Health services includes full scope Medi-Cal beneficiaries. Those who do not meet eligibility criteria are assessed on an individual basis.

Works collaboratively with the Crisis Response Team and Mental Health Urgent Care. Provides Spirit trained crisis peer supporters to meet with patients who are being evaluated for a 5150 involuntary psychiatric hold. After meeting with them at the hospital, crisis peer supporters follow-up with phone calls to assist people and connect them with community services in the hopes of avoiding repeat visits to the Emergency Room or suicide attempts.
