8-1-1, a free service managed by Underground Service Alert, ensures that people remain safe when doing digging projects.
Always call 8-1-1 before you dig. After you call, Underground Service Alert will contact PG&E and other companies that have underground lines in your area. Representatives will then mark the location of their underground lines so you can avoid them and dig safely. Whether you are planting a tree or a garden, or digging holes for fence posts, call 8-1-1 at least two business days before you plan to start your project.
8-1-1 is a program of Underground Service Alert (USA).

NEVADA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS #86702644
2023 - If you are dependent on your landline phone service from AT&T, please contact the Nevada County Board of Supervisors per instructions below.
Background
Over the next six to seven years, AT&T will be discontinuing their traditional wireline phone service. This service is provided via an outdated copper-based network. AT&T says that moving away from the landline phone network will allow them to invest more resources in high-speed broadband infrastructure.
AT&T has asked the County of Nevada to help them identify and connect with any of their traditional landline phone customers who have no other voice service alternatives (including mobile/cell phone service). They understand the public safety hazard of having no phone service and want to maintain service for households in that situation.
How to get on the list
If your household depends on your AT&T landline service, please send an email to:
