Replace lost or damaged food

People can request replacement benefits for food that they bought using CalFresh and that they lost or had damaged in an emergency such as fire, natural disaster, power outages, etc. A form must be submitted within 10 days of the end of an event, such as a power outage. Sometimes counties extend the deadline beyond 10 days.

Connecting Point offers Disaster Case Management for people impacted by the 2021 River Fire. Call 211 or 833-342-5211 to receive a referral to a Disaster Case Manager who will contact you within one business day to offer assistance during your recovery process.

Disaster Case Managers will work one-on-one with individuals and families that have been impacted by the River Fire. Meeting regularly and as needed, the case managers will be able to work with you step-by-step throughout the recovery process, provide you with resources for any need that comes up, navigate the County, State, Federal rebuild processes that you will encounter, advocate for additional resources as needed, provide a physical place where you can print, fax, email, and copy documents, and keep you up to date with any updates as they are released.

The California Employment Development Department (EDD) administers these benefits, which are available to workers, business owners, and self-employed individuals who lost their jobs or businesses or had their work hours reduced due to the ongoing wildfires.
 
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has determined that individuals who lost work or self-employment as a direct result of the Dixie Fire in Plumas and Lassen Counties, and the River Fire in Placer and Nevada counties, are now eligible to apply for DUA benefits. The FEMA approval is for FEMA-designated disaster area 4610-DR (also noted as 4610-DR-CA and DR4610CA).
