HomeShare American River is a nonprofit housemate-matching service that serves to quickly unlock affordability in the housing we already have. Match agreements often also include exchanges of lower rent for affordable in-home services for "hosts" (and thus informal employment for "guests").

Hospitality House offers a year-round, temporary, overnight emergency shelter for homeless residents of Western Nevada County who have lived in the county for 45 days or more. ID not required.

Services available to those who are staying at the shelter include:

Housing and Community Development
The Department of Housing and Community Development administers State and Federal housing and community development loan and grant programs.
