Nevada County Pets In Need operates the Nevada County Pets In Need Thrift Store. We offer clothing, shoes, accessories, books and all manner of household goods. Most items cost $1 however we have an over dollar area where items are priced individually.

Proceeds from the Thrift Store go to supporting local Pets in need of food, veterinary care, licensing, assist with spay and neuter, flea and tick products and collars and leashes.

We are a non profit organization supporting spayed and neutered pets of the homeless, low income, seniors and military veterans.

The Domestic Violence Resource Center has served more than 80,000 victims of domestic violence in Washoe County since the organization was founded in 1977. The Domestic Violence Resource Center provides confidential bi-lingual trained advocacy through face-to-face meetings and through the 24-hour crisis hotline, support groups, clothing assistance, Temporary Protection Order advocacy and assistance and community-wide referrals. In addition to the supports listed above, our short and long term shelter and housing programs offer additional supports such as client activities/outings, life-skills classes, child assessment and parenting classes through the Children’s Program, health and education services, transportation and food assistance, financial literacy/coaching, counseling services and access to the pet boarding facility through a partnership with Noah’s Animal House. Hosts experiential field trips, service projects, U-pick vegetables, workdays for community organizations, and summer camps.

Engages students in cultivating and tending plants. Serves as an outdoor classroom to teach science, math, literacy, and social skills through gardening and culinary activities. Builds on each student's knowledge base from year to year, culminating in a generation fully equipped to envision and create an equitable, local, sustainable food system from seed to plate.

The Emergency Relief Program exists to help non-residents stranded in Nevada County get back home. It can provide, as a loan, homeless motel vouchers, food vouchers, gas money, and bus fare.

  • Must be non-residents passing through the area
  • One time use only
  • Must sign up with name and a copy of a photo ID is taken
  • Records are kept on this program and the person that is using the program is supposed to reimburse the program when able

Enhanced Care Management is a program of Adult System of Care, one of six Divisions of County of Placer Health & Human Services.

Enhanced Care Management (ECM) offers extra services at no cost to Medi-Cal members who have complex needs and challenges that make it difficult to improve their health. This could include health conditions or challenges such as not having a place to live. To get ECM services, someone must be enrolled in a Medi-Cal managed care health plan and meet certain eligibility requirements. The ECM provider will assign a lead care manager who works with the client to help them get the health care and social services needed. The lead care manager helps the client:
  • Stay engaged in their health care
  • Make a plan to meet their health goals
  • Connect and update doctors about the clients' needs and wishes
  • Learn how to better support their health issues
