Sierra Nevada Job Corps Center offers a comprehensive array of no-cost education and career technical training program administered by the U.S. Department of Labor that prepares young people ages 16 through 24 for successful careers. Job Corps employs a holistic career development training approach which integrates the teaching of academic, vocational, employability skills, and social competencies through a combination of classroom, practical and based learning experiences to prepare youth for stable, long-term employment.  They also offer a fully accredited high school with diploma and GED.

    The PARTNERS Family Resource Center (FRC) provides a place for families in the Penn Valley area to connect, learn, and play. Assists families with child development, parenting support, counseling, education, employment tools, and community resources.

    Vouchers for reduced fees for California ID cards are available for people receiving Nevada County welfare assistance programs (veterans, eligibility & employment, Adult Services or Child Welfare assistance programs).
     
    Go to one of the three Nevada County Department of Social Services offices and ask for a voucher. A county worker must sign the voucher. People who are homeless and on public assistance are eligible to receive a free ID card. This does not replace drivers licenses, only identification cards.

    Kaleidoscope of Employment for Youth Success - KEYS is a collaborative project between the Placer County Office of Education Foster Youth Services (FYS), the Department of Rehabilitation, and PRIDE Industries. This program is designed to ensure successful employment outcomes for foster youth, ages 16-19, who have significant barriers to employment.​​

    Placer County foster youth, ages 16-19 years old, are matched with individual Job Developers who provide pre-employment support and assistance with obtaining and retaining employment local in a field of interest.

    Eligible youth must have a significant barrier to gaining employment, including a mental health diagnosis, physical disability or special education designation. Proof of eligibility will be requested.
