Auburn Adventist Community Services, at the Auburn Seventh-day Adventist Church offers a variety of services for families and individuals who are in need, out of work or simply find that the month lasts longer than the paychecks every once in a while. CalAIM offers improved Medi-Cal services for people with complex health needs in California.

It's made up of two parts:

Enhanced Care Management (ECM): Provides a care coordinator to help make a health plan and connect people to needed services. ECM supports:

• Homeless individuals and families
• People with serious mental illness or substance use problems
• Children with complex health issues
• People who frequently visit the ER or hospital
• Those at risk of entering nursing homes
• People leaving nursing homes or jail

Community Supports (CS): Offers additional services, like housing and recovery supports, to address health needs beyond standard medical care.

CalWORKs provides cash aid and services to eligible families that have a child(ren) in the home. The program serves all 58 counties in the state and is operated locally by county welfare departments.

If a family has little or no cash and needs housing, food, utilities, clothing or medical care, they may be eligible to receive immediate short-term help. Families that apply and qualify for ongoing assistance receive money each month to help pay for housing, food and other necessary expenses.

The amount of a family‘s monthly assistance payment depends on a number of factors, including the number of people who are eligible and the special needs of any of those family members. The income of the family is considered in calculating the amount of cash aid the family receives.

Generally, services are available to:

• Families that have a child(ren) in the home who has been deprived of parental support or care because of the absence, disability or death of either parent.

Children's Behavioral Health
Nevada County Behavioral Health Children's Mental Health serves children and youth who have Nevada County Medi-Cal and meet moderate to severe criteria for Behavioral Health Treatment: recent psychiatric hospitalization, Probation or Child Welfare involvement, significant challenges at school, homelessness, or a complex combination of concerns that may involve trauma, depression or anxiety symptoms, and housing instability.

• Home based wrap around support for children and families who need more intensive care

Treatment location is based on need and can take place at the Nevada County Behavioral Health Office, schools, Family Resource Centers, or other locations convenient for the family. The Cirby Wellness Center offers free wellness activities and support services for Adult System of Care (ASOC) clients and community members.

Services include:

• Hosting group activities such as journaling, choir, gardening, hiking, and health education
• Providing support with job readiness, resume writing, and budgeting
• Offering help accessing housing, food banks, Medi-Cal, and mental health screenings
• Supplying all needed materials; no cost to participate

Additional notes:

Open to both ASOC clients and the general public. Operates within a county outpatient mental health clinic, where additional services may be available.
