Consists of individuals who provide a multitude of services to the underserved Spanish-speaking populations through agencies, non-profits, faith-based organizations, businesses, and grass roots initiatives.

Connects families with Promotores, who are trained bilingual, bicultural individuals who:

  • Help families navigate the system and access resources
  • Provide advocacy and support
  • Connect to transportation if needed
  • Assist health care and service providers to deliver care in a culturally meaningful manner
  • Offer support groups and classes for women, mothers, and youth

The City of Auburn operates its own transit programs and also partners with Placer County Transit to expand public transportation options. 

Riders can use the TransLoc app to schedule trips for both local routes and on-demand service.

Services include:

  • The Auburn Loop, a deviated fixed-route service with up to ½-mile off-route pickups and drop-offs within Auburn and nearby areas
  • Auburn OnDemand, a ride share service that allows flexible trip planning within Auburn city limits and parts of Placer County

CalWORKs & Employment Services acts as a part of Human Services, one of six Divisions of County of Placer Health & Human Services.

If you are an adult with dependent children, you may be eligible for California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids, or CalWORKs. CalWORKs provides:

  • Child care, work expense assistance, transportation, and counseling
  • Education, employment and training programs through Employment Services
  • Families with children financial assistance to meet their basic needs
  • Support for families moving toward self-sufficiency

If you are eligible for CalWORKs you will automatically qualify for Medi-Cal and may also qualify for CalFresh. The In-Home Supportive Services program (IHSS) allows limited-income elderly, blind, or disabled people to hire someone to help them with housework, meal preparation, and personal care. With this help, the IHSS recipient may remain safely in their home and will not need to move into a care facility or an institution. The IHSS program is funded by federal, state, and county resources. The IHSS recipient chooses their care provider, supervises the provider's work, defines how tasks will be completed, and can fire the provider if necessary.

The IHSS program pays providers to provide personal care, such as:

  • feeding and bathing
  • household tasks such as laundry, shopping, meal preparation, and light housecleaning
  • transportation
  • protective supervision
  • certain paramedical services ordered by a physician


IHSS does not pay for the following services:

  • general gardening or yard clean-up that does not present a hazard
  • feeding, cleaning up after, or exercising a pet

Alta Colfax operates a deviated fixed-route transit service connecting parts of Placer County between Auburn and Alta.

The route:

  • Includes weekday public transportation between Auburn Amtrak Station, Colfax Amtrak Station, and Alta Store
  • Operates along I-80 with deviations up to ¾ mile from the route
  • Runs twice daily, Monday through Friday
