Adoption

Children's System of Care provides placement approval for matched families through the Resource Family Approval process, and support for parents wishing to voluntarily relinquish their children for adoption.

Fostering

Placer County provides foster care licensing and adoptive home studies to families who are interested in opening their homes. Placer County works in partnership with several community based organizations such as Koinonia Family Services, Stanford Youth Solutions/Sierra Forever Families, Lilliput Family Services, and Families for Children to recruit and educate new foster and adoptive parents.

Children's System Of Care (CSOC) has a Crisis/Child Welfare Services (CWS) Report Line to meet the special needs of children and youth who may be at risk, and their families, in Placer County.

A telephone call can bring help in a crisis. For at-risk children in emergencies and crisis situations, a special 24-hour, 7-day a week, response program is available by calling Family and Children's Services: 916-872-6549 or toll free 866-293-1940.

The In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) program helps pay for services so that individuals can remain safely in their own homes, in contrast to care facilities.

To be eligible, you must be over 65 years of age, disabled, or blind. Disabled children are also potentially eligible for IHSS. IHSS is considered an alternative to out-of-home care, such as nursing homes or board and care facilities.

The office of the Public Administrator investigates, protects, and administers estates of Placer County decedents who have no known relatives who are willing and able to administer their estate.

The process may include securing and protecting valuables against loss (including those held by financial institutions), seeing to the final disposition of the decedent’s remains, locating possible next of kin to perform as administrators of the estate, or, if none are found, County administration of the decedent’s estate.
