If you are an adult with dependent children, you may be eligible for California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids, or CalWORKs. CalWORKs provides:

  • Child care, work expense assistance, transportation, and counseling
  • Education, employment and training programs through Employment Services
  • Families with children financial assistance to meet their basic needs

Eligibility for Placer Children's mental health services includes full scope Medi-Cal beneficiaries, and County Medical Services Program (CMSP) beneficiaries with low or no share of cost. Those who do not meet these eligibility criteria are assessed on an individual basis regarding their need for services.

Healthy Babies offers home visits by trained Family Support Specialists to pregnant and new parents. Services provided help new parents meet challenges through education on healthy growth and development and strengthen bonding with parent and baby.

Parents can expect support in problem-solving their baby’s needs, managing life stressors, and enjoying their baby’s development throughout the program from prenatal to age five.

Families are linked to community resources throughout Nevada County. To get started, contact Healthy Babies before your due date or up to three months after giving birth.
