 Auburn Interfaith Food Closet | Thanksgiving Turkey Drive

  • What? Auburn Interfaith Food Closet (AIFC) is hosting its 10th Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Drive. Families who live within AIFC’s service area can sign up online to receive one donated turkey per household. Turkeys will be distributed based on availability and are not guaranteed.
  • When?
    • Pickup: Monday, November 24, 2025, from 9am-5pm
    • Sign-up period: November 3-21, 2025
    • Recipients will be notified by Sunday, November 23 if a turkey has been reserved.
  • Where? 
    • Pickup Location: Grocery Outlet parking lot
    • 414 Grass Valley Hwy, Auburn, CA 95603 (Note: Do not go to the Food Closet to pick up your turkey.)

The Auburn Seventh-day Adventist Church provides free food, clothing, and supportive services to people in need in the Auburn area.

Services include:

  • Clothing closet, food pantry, hygiene kits, and showers
  • Community garden, fruit orchard, and fresh produce during harvest season
  • Computer resource center and children’s play area
  • Referrals to other local organizations and churches
  • Medical, dental, vision, mental health, and chiropractic services through the Auburn Renewal Center (located on church grounds)

Service schedule:

  • Monday (Unsheltered individuals): Clothing, shoes, bedding, hygiene kits, hot showers, toiletries, sack and hot lunches
  • Tuesday (Sheltered individuals & families): Clothing, diapers, baby wipes, kitchen items, linens, groceries (including USDA food and produce from the garden/orchard), and access to a computer for family or job connection needs

WWJD? (What Would Jesus Do?) Inc. is a nonprofit, non-denominational organization in Western Placer County serving people who are homeless, transitionally homeless, and working poor. From a mobile van in each community at conveniently located sites, they serve their clients a warm breakfast and provide a bag full of food for their dinner. WWJD? can also provide clothing, blankets, tarps, sleeping bags, toiletries, laundry soap, pet food, and other sundries.

WWJD? is an all-volunteer agency providing a mobile food service in the Roseville, Auburn, & Colfax areas of Western Placer County, along with medical care and transportation, referral services for adults and children who are homeless.

Recology Auburn Placer provides residential and commercial yard waste, recycling, and garbage collection to the communities of Auburn, Colfax, Rocklin, the Town of Loomis, and Unincorporated Placer County. The City of Roseville has its own waste services division. The City of Lincoln is served by Waste Management, Inc.

Sharps

All sharps waste must be transported to a collection center in an approved sharps container. Home-generated sharps waste includes hypodermic needles, syringes, and lancets that are used for medical purposes. Sharps in approved biohazard containers can be brought to the Recology Auburn Placer Transfer Station for safe disposal.

Visit the Placer-Nevada Rx Drug Safety Coalition for additional free year-round medical drop-off sites.

Visit CalRecycle regarding sharps waste mail-back services.

Senior discounts are also offered for those who are 65+ and income less than $32,100.  Call Recology for details.

Auburn Interfaith Food Closet offers a Home Delivery Program that provides participants with enough food each month to make 12 meals for everyone in the household.

The home delivery service is not on-demand, but occurs monthly on a pre-established schedule. Each guest's order is customized monthly, to best serve their needs.

To register for this program, people can call AIFC at 530-885-1921 during opening hours.

Auburn Interfaith Food Closet provides once-monthly grocery assistance to people living in 17 ZIP codes throughout Placer County. 

Each household receives enough food to prepare approximately 12 meals (about four days of groceries) per person. A separate home delivery service is available for qualifying homebound residents.

Services include:

  • Monthly grocery distributions for eligible households
  • Home delivery for low-income, homebound individuals
  • Alternative pickup option using signed authorization forms

Additional notes:

  • Guests may visit once every 30 days; weekly distributions are not offered
  • A signed "Alternative Pickup Request" form is required each time someone else picks up food

Auburn Interfaith Food Closet (AIFC) offers a Food Distribution Program for the Colfax, North Auburn and Forest Hills areas. Everyone is invited to pickup free groceries once a month. Stop by for fresh fruits and vegetables. Reservations are encouraged.

  • Colfax: 1st Tuesdays of each month at the Sierra Vista Community Center, 55 School St., Colfax from 12 PM - 3 PM.
  • North Auburn: Second Wednesdays of each month at the Parkside Church of the Nazarene, 3885 Richard Drive, Auburn from 2 PM - 4 PM.
  • Forest Hills: First Friday of each month from 1pm-4pm.

It focuses mostly on housing stability, education, employment, and independent living.
