The Nevada County Law Library ​provides open access of these resources to all members of the community.

• The Law Library collection contains approximately 6,000 volumes of reference materials, including: Nolo Press self-help law books, the Nevada County Codes, California Code, State Supreme and Appellate court reports, and the Municipal Codes of Grass Valley, Nevada City, and Truckee.
  
• The Self-Help Center is located adjacent to the Law Library. It provides legal information on court procedures, form packets with instructions, and alternatives to civil litigation, such as mediation. California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) provides temporary financial assistance and employment support for low- or no-income families with children.

CalWORKs (California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids) helps families facing hardship due to issues such as domestic violence, illness, job loss, housing instability, or legal challenges.

Children may receive financial assistance even if parents choose not to participate in Employment Services.

Services include:

• Temporary cash aid to low- or no-income families with children
• Support for families experiencing job loss, domestic violence, or other crises
• Employment Services participants with job and education goals

Spirit Peer Empowerment Center offers support groups for people experiencing homelessness and/or mental health challenges.

Support services include:

• Staff can administer naloxone Narcan in case of opioid overdose (naloxone is the drug, Narcan is a brand)
• Housing Circle - assists with completing low income apartment applications, Craigslist searching, housing advocacy, and more. Call 530-274-1431 for meeting time info.
• WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan) education, an eight week course supporting individuals to succeed at the goals they set for themselves, including looking at triggers and addictions and ways to get beyond them
• Food distribution to those in need
• Hot showers for program participants - They offer 5 showers per day, 10am-1:30pm. It's recommended to be there a bit before they open at 10am to get one as they are first come, first served. Shower is ADA-compliant, but not roll in. Please notify in advance if needed.

The Women of Worth Safe House provides an emergency shelter and transitional housing assisting women and families in crisis, victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking. Offers support services including legal and medical assistance, advocacy and case management, mentoring and support groups, educational and career assistance, and art therapy for children ages 5-12.

Nevada County Behavioral Health Substance Use Disorder Services offers:

• Withdrawal management
• Residential, outpatient, and perinatal treatment
• Transitional living and prevention services
• Additional services for people with both mental illness and substance use disorders who are Medi-Cal beneficiaries
• Outpatient drug and alcohol services for youth
• Walk-in Assessment Clinic for Drug and Alcohol Treatment for Nevada County Residents who have Medi-Cal or who might be eligible for Medi-Cal who are interested in Residential Treatment for a Substance use Disorder. The Nevada County Public Health Department provides a Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Supplemental Nutrition program which offers nutrition, breastfeeding and health education service that helps pregnant women, mothers with new babies, and young children, under age 5 years, eat well and stay healthy. Families receive a benefits card to purchase nutritious foods at grocery stores. Legal guardians such as fathers, foster parents, and grandparents can receive checks on behalf of children.
