  • The Nevada County Law Library is affiliated with the Nevada County Superior Court. It is not affiliated with the Nevada County Libraries.
  • The Law Library collection contains approximately 6,000 volumes of reference materials, including: Nolo Press self-help law books, the Nevada County Codes, California Code, State Supreme and Appellate court reports, and the Municipal Codes of Grass Valley, Nevada City, and Truckee.
  • The Self-Help Center is located adjacent to the Law Library. It provides legal information on court procedures, form packets with instructions, and alternatives to civil litigation, such as mediation. APS investigates reports of abuse and provides safety planning, referrals, and case management to protect vulnerable adults who are unable to care for themselves.

California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) provides temporary financial assistance and employment support for low- or no-income families with children.

CalWORKs (California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids) helps families facing hardship due to issues such as domestic violence, illness, job loss, housing instability, or legal challenges.

Children may receive financial assistance even if parents choose not to participate in Employment Services.

Services include:

  • Temporary cash aid to low- or no-income families with children
  • Support for families experiencing job loss, domestic violence, or other crises
