Placer County Adult System of Care provides an array of mental health and supportive services for those who live with mental illness. Services are individually designed to help people achieve their personal recovery goals. Services are provided to Placer County Medi-Cal beneficiaries and Placer County residents with no insurance.

Other insurance situations may be considered on a case by case basis. To be eligible for services you must also have a current or past qualifying diagnosis that impairs your level of functioning.

Turning Point Community Programs provide a variety of mental health services for people with psychiatric disabilities to help them achieve recovery, independence, and self-sufficiency. People can self-refer for some programs and some programs require a referral from another agency.

Referrals for most Nevada County programs must be made by Nevada County Behavioral Health. Call 530-265-1437.
  • Insight Respite Center (IRC) is a four-bedroom home in rural Nevada County that is peer operated. The team fosters a stigma-free supportive and healing environment for adults (18+) with mental health symptoms who are experiencing a difficult time in their community. The team provides respite services to prevent a crisis from occurring or requiring hospitalization. During an individual’s stay they will receive peer support which fosters growth through self-empowerment and self-esteem building.

Coloma Center is an intensive outpatient mental health treatment program that provides psychosocial rehabilitation and case management services for Transitional Age Youth (16-25) and adults (26+) living with serious mental illness. The goal of Coloma Center is to assist people with maintaining their highest level of independence while living safely in the community.

Referrals can be made directly to Coloma Center by calling 916-786-3750 and asking for an Assessment Coordinator.

    PEARLS: Program to Encourage Active and Rewarding LiveS is a community integrated, home-based treatment for depression that significantly reduces symptoms and improves health. It is an evidence
    based, best practice for working with older adults.
     
    The treatment is based on three fundamental principles:
    • What a participant is experiencing are symptoms and the symptoms are due to depression.
    • There is a close link between depression and unsolved problems.
    • Increasing participation in social, physical, and other pleasant activities will lead to a decrease in depressive symptoms.
    PEARLS Process:
    • Meet by phone, Zoom, Facetime, or any digital platform that will work for both parties.
    • Depression screening (PHQ-9) takes place at the beginning, at each session, and at the culmination to track progress.
    • 6 to 8, 1-hour sessions over 6 months: (weekly, bi-weekly, then monthly) and then 3-6 follow up phone calls.
