CASA volunteers are trained, then assigned by the court to mentor foster youth and act as the "eyes and ears of the judge and the voice of the child." Through court reports and court appearances, CASA volunteers state the child’s wishes and provide the court with recommendations as to what actions would be in the child’s best interests. We also assign CASAs to youth in Delinquency Court, and most recently, to youth involved in sex trafficking.

Child Support is the money a parent is required to pay for the support of their child. The money helps provide the other parent with funds for food, clothing, shelter and other basic needs of a child. It can also provide the means for activities and sports that enhance a child’s life. Our department exists to help parents meet the needs of their children. Whether you are a parent requesting support or a parent who needs to provide support we assist with both at no cost. Services We Provide: Locate a parent, establish paternity, establish, modify, and enforce a court order for child support, establish, modify, and enforce an order for health insurance coverage. We help parents with... Determining paternity (fatherhood), establishing court orders for child support as well as medical support, collecting and receiving child support, providing medical coverage, accounting records for payments of support, and locating absent parents.

The Youth Mentor program assigns volunteer mentors to children who are at-risk of educational failure, and former foster youth who are transitioning into adulthood without family support. These at-risk youth are not currently involved in any court system, but are identified as being at-risk of educational failure (truancy) or of entering the juvenile justice or child welfare systems.

As with CASA volunteers, Mentors meet weekly with the youth, helping to:

• Define and accomplish goals
• Introduce youth to opportunties and potential life paths that they never dreamed possible
• As important role models, Mentors strive to navigate at-risk youth and former foster youth toward positive outcomes that will help these young people transition successfully into adulthood.

Family Mentors assigns CASA-trained mentors to work one-on-one with parents who are striving to rebuild their families. These parents are either working toward reunifying with their children who are in the child welfare system, or are recovering from drug abuse or domestic violence and are at-risk of having their children enter the child welfare system.

The Family Mentor visits the home of the parent each week and helps them to develop a variety of life skills surrounding:

A Community for Peace is a trauma informed social justice crisis center serving children and adult survivors of domestic violence, family violence, sexual assault and trafficking.
