Housing Choice Voucher program is a part of Human Services, one of six Divisions of County of Placer Health & Human Services.

The Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCV) formerly known as the Section 8 Voucher Program, is a rental assistance program to help low and very low-income families, persons with disabilities, and seniors so they can live in affordable, safe, and decent housing. This program covers all of Placer County with the exception of the City of Roseville. The City of Roseville has its own Housing Authority.

The Lohse Apartments offer one, two, or three bedroom apartments in Roseville. The community offers outdoor play facilities in a central courtyard, common areas that include community room, computer area, lounge area, and laundry room. It also has underground and surface parking spaces, a commercial space on the ground floor.

Each Mercy Housing community has its own leasing office and its own application process. Please call each community directly if you or your family would like to rent a low-income apartment home at one of Mercy Housing’s communities. When you call, the community staff can answer questions regarding apartment availability, rent, income requirements or restrictions and how to obtain an application for housing.

TAY FOSTER YOUTH TO INDEPENDENCE - COUNTY OF PLACER

The Foster Youth to Independence (FYI) initiative makes Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) assistance available to Public Housing Agencies (PHAs) in partnership with Public Child Welfare Agencies (PCWAs).

Placer County youth who may be eligible must get a referral from the Children's System of Care. Youth with a CSOC case worker should work through them. Youth without a CSOC case worker can call CSOC directly at 530-889-6700. Timeline for receiving a voucher may be lengthy.

As required by statute, an FYI voucher issued to an eligible youth may only be used to provide housing assistance for the youth for a maximum of 36 months. In addition to providing up to 36 months of rental assistance, youth must be provided supportive services to assist the young person on their path to self-sufficiency.
