The Emergency Day Respite Center provides:
  • Warm meals
  • Showers (not ADA compliant or wheelchair roll-in accessible)
  • Laundry
  • Case Management
  • Access to counseling, community, and basic necessities
  • Longer-term support when possible
Offers assistance in multiple languages through a Language Line service.

HOURS
Open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 1 pm to 5 pm.
Starting 2024, hours will be Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 1 pm - 5pm.

Sierra Roots offers weekly meals and clothing to people who are homeless. Clothing, including socks and shoes, is available every week. Individuals can get clothing once every two weeks.

During winter months, lunch served on Thursdays at 11:30am at the First Community Church at 300 Main Street, Nevada City. 

During summer months, Thursday lunches are served at 11:30am at Pioneer Park, 421 Nimrod Street in Nevada City in the picnic area near the horseshoe pits.

NOTE: Sierra Roots does not provide motel vouchers or gas cards.

Senior Nutrition Program
Gold Country Senior Services has been providing senior nutrition programs for older adults in Western Nevada County since 1987. We provide hot nutritious meals in a warm and friendly setting that provides older adults an opportunity to socialize. Each meal is prepared fresh and from scratch.

Menu
Recipes and menus are planned and approved by a dietitian to ensure each meal meets the nutritional requirements for an older adult. Each meal includes an entrée, vegetable, fruit, and milk. Menus are available on our website and at our Café.

WWJD? Inc. is a nonprofit, non-denominational organization in Western Placer County serving people who are homeless, transitionally homeless, and working poor. From a mobile van in each community at conveniently located sites, they serve their clients a warm breakfast and provide a bag full of food for their dinner. WWJD? can also provide clothing, blankets, tarps, sleeping bags, toiletries, laundry soap, pet food, and other sundries.

WWJD? is an all-volunteer agency providing a mobile food service in the Roseville, Auburn, & Colfax areas of Western Placer County, along with medical care and transportation, referral services for adults and children who are homeless.

Seniors First offers Meals on Wheels and Senior Cafes.

Meals on Wheels
A service designed to help Older Adults Age in Place by targeting people who are home alone during the day and who have difficulty preparing simple meals. For clients who need the service temporarily.

Eligibility:
At the time services are provided, clients shall be:
  • 60 years of age or older, sufficiently functionally impaired and homebound; or,
  • The spouse, of any age, of an eligible client; or,
  • A person with a disability (of any age) who lives with an eligible client.
Easy
Hot meals are delivered to the door Monday through Friday (except for holidays)

Fresh & Healthy
Meals are prepared fresh daily in accordance with nutritional guidelines for seniors

Flexible
We offer regular service to those seniors who are homebound, as well as short term services for those recuperating from recent illness, hospitalization or convalescent care.
