The Seventh Day Adventist Church in Penn Valley offers an Emergency Food Distribution on Thursdays from 9 - 11:30am at 17645 Penn Valley Drive, Penn Valley, CA 95946.

Emergency Food is a bag of food (2-3 day supply) intended to tide someone over to the next regular food distribution by the Food Bank of Nevada County or Interfaith Food Ministry.

People from anywhere in Nevada County are eligible for emergency food and for the Food Bank of Nevada County regular distributions.

Auburn Interfaith Food Closet (AIFC) provides a Homebound Delivery Program (HBSD) - Since 2020, AIFC has a new program to deliver groceries once a month to low-income homebound persons (within their service area). AIFC will provide HBSD participants with enough food each month to make 12 nutritious meals.

The home delivery service is not on-demand, but occurs monthly on a pre-established schedule. Each guest's order is customized monthly, to best serve their needs.

Amount of food
Each month, HBSD participants receive four days' worth of age-appropriate food for each member of their household.

Seniors First offers Meals on Wheels and Senior Cafes.

Meals on Wheels

A service designed to help Older Adults Age in Place by targeting people who are home alone during the day and who have difficulty preparing simple meals. For clients who need the service temporarily.

Eligibility

At the time services are provided, clients shall be:

  • 60 years of age or older, sufficiently functionally impaired and homebound; or,
  • The spouse, of any age, of an eligible client; or,
  • A person with a disability (of any age) who lives with an eligible client.

Senior Cafés

The Senior Cafés program provides a hot, healthy lunch five days a week to seniors age 60 at over eight Senior Café locations throughout Placer County including Auburn, Lincoln, Rocklin and Roseville. The Senior Cafés are lively gathering places that help maintain clients' sense of community and connectedness.

Cost

Meals are provided for a small optional contribution. No one is ever turned away for lack of financial resources.

Auburn Adventist Community Services, at the Auburn Seventh-day Adventist Church, has been around since the 1970s and offers a variety of services for families and individuals who are in need, out of work or simply find that the month lasts longer than the paychecks every once in a while. WWJD? (What Would Jesus Do?) Inc. is a nonprofit, non-denominational organization in Western Placer County serving people who are homeless, transitionally homeless, and working poor. From a mobile van in each community at conveniently located sites, they serve their clients a warm breakfast and provide a bag full of food for their dinner. WWJD? can also provide clothing, blankets, tarps, sleeping bags, toiletries, laundry soap, pet food, and other sundries.

WWJD? is an all-volunteer agency providing a mobile food service in the Roseville, Auburn, & Colfax areas of Western Placer County, along with medical care and transportation, referral services for adults and children who are homeless.

Replace Lost or Damaged Food

People can request replacement benefits for food that they bought using CalFresh and that they lost or had damaged in an emergency such as fire, natural disaster, power outages, etc. A form must be submitted within 10 days of the end of an event, such as a power outage.

To Apply for Replacement Benefits

Complete and submit the CF 303 form.

  • By phone - Customers can call Placer County Human Services, and get help completing the form via phone. People can mail in the CF 303 or bring it to one of the Placer County Human Services offices.

Submitting online via BenefitsCal.com will probably be the quickest and easiest because people will not need to wait in queues in the call center or office lobbies.
