* The word “doula” is often used to refer to a childbirth coach. But doulas can help when life ends too. An end-of-life doula is a nonmedical professional trained to care for a terminally ill person's emotional and spiritual needs during the dying process.

Del Oro Caregiver Resource Center supports family caregivers of adults with chronic and disabling conditions or diseases.

Founded in 1987, Del Oro Caregiver Resource Center is part of a statewide system of resource centers serving family caregivers. Del Oro covers California’s Gold Country Counties — Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, Colusa, El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Sierra, Sutter, Yolo, and Yuba — and is an independent, private, non-profit program funded by the Department of Health Care Services, Agency on Aging, Area 4, grants and private contributions.

Del Oro is dedicated to serving families caring for an adult with a cognitive impairing condition that occurred after the age of 18 (e.g., Dementia, Alzheimer's disease, stroke, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson's disease, and frail older adults) in various counties.

Nevada County Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) provides backup communications in the event of a local or area-wide emergency such as fire, flood, earthquake or other disasters. Assists local emergency resources.

Partners in English Langulage Learning (PiELL) provides free one-on-one tutoring of ESL to non-native speakers in Nevada County. All tutors are volunteers which PiELL trains to teach ESL. They offer a two day training session three times a year.

Lost in a Crowd?  This is how hundreds of Western Nevada County Residents with limited English language skills feel when making medical appointments, speaking to doctors and nurses, talking to their children’s teachers, filling out job applications, asking for directions, or reading labels. Miracle Flights provides financial assistance for medical air transportation allowing children and adults access to specialized medical treatment and second opinions throughout the United States. Provides air travel via commercial airlines so that children may access specialized, out-of-state medical care and second opinions. Flight assistance is also provided for parents/legal guardians traveling with the patient. Assistance for adult patients may be available based on funding.

InterfaithFood Ministry provides supplemental groceries, including baby formula and babyfood when available, to low-income individuals and families. Diapers are alsoavailable at regular food distributions, and they will also hand out diapersonly (no food) on Tuesday or Thursday from 7am-11am.
