Auburn Adventist Community Services, at the Auburn Seventh-day Adventist Church, has been around since the 1970s and offers a variety of services for families and individuals who are in need, out of work or simply find that the month lasts longer than the paychecks every once in a while. Services include:
  • Clothing closet. Tuesdays, 9 am - 12 noon.
  • Food pantry. Tuesdays, 9 am - 12 noon.
  • Showers for unsheltered people are available Monday (9 am - 12 noon. Will have to walk upstairs). For handicapped showers available Monday, call ahead of time for ARC (530-887-8673) located in the back of the parking lot.

CalFresh (also known as the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program or SNAP) is a federally mandated program that provides monthly food benefits to assist low-income households in purchasing nutritious food. CalWORKs is a public assistance program that provides cash aid and services to eligible families that have a child(ren) in the home. The program serves all 58 counties in the state and is operated locally by county welfare departments.

The County of Placer has CalWORKs offices in Auburn, Rocklin, and Carnelian Bay (Tahoe).

If a family has little or no cash and needs housing, food, utilities, clothing or medical care, they may be eligible to receive immediate short-term help. Families that apply and qualify for ongoing assistance receive money each month to help pay for housing, food and other necessary expenses.

The amount of a family‘s monthly assistance payment depends on a number of factors, including the number of people who are eligible and the special needs of any of those family members. The income of the family is considered in calculating the amount of cash aid the family receives.

Children's Behavioral Health

Nevada County Behavioral Health Children's Mental Health serves children and youth who have Nevada County Medi-Cal and meet moderate to severe criteria for Behavioral Health Treatment: recent psychiatric hospitalization, Probation or Child Welfare involvement, significant challenges at school, homelessness, or a complex combination of concerns that may involve trauma, depression or anxiety symptoms, and housing instability.

  • Home based wrap around support for children and families who need more intensive care
Treatment location is based on need and can take place at the Nevada County Behavioral Health Office, schools, Family Resource Centers, or other locations convenient for the family.
