• What? The County of Nevada, City of Nevada City, and Nevada City Chamber of Commerce will host a Halloween celebration across three festive locations.
• When? Friday, October 31, 2025
  • 3-5pm (event hours)
  • Free shuttle runs 3-7pm

  • Nevada County Government Center: 950 Maidu Ave, Nevada City
    • (Trick-or-treat through County departments decorated with themed displays. Candy provided by County staff and community partners.)
  • Madelyn Helling Library: 980 Helling Way, Nevada City
    • (Sixth annual Spooky Boooky Book Giveaway with storytimes, face painting, healthy snacks, and free books for kids.)
  • Downtown Nevada City: Commercial Street and Robinson Plaza

This resource is eligible for electronic referral. One Source provides assessments for in-home family caregivers and clients to help create a specific plan to assist the in-home caregiver with respite and other resources.

FieldHaven’s Kitten Sitters program supports people caring for abandoned kittens and cats found in the community through a neighborhood-based foster model.

The program helps keep animals out of shelters by equipping caregivers with supplies, veterinary support, and training to provide short-term care in safe home environments.

Kitten Sitters receive guidance from FieldHaven staff and are encouraged to find permanent homes for the animals they help.

Services include:

• Food, supplies, and support for kittens and community cats under 12 weeks of age
• Access to low-cost veterinary care and spay/neuter services
• Coaching on safe, in-place care and kitten socialization
• Email support from trained staff and volunteers
