Yuba County Search and Rescue (YCSAR) is a volunteer organization under the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office that responds to emergencies and disasters. They conduct searches for missing persons, rescues, and evidence recovery using ground teams, ATVs, K-9 units, equine teams, and water rescue specialists. YCSAR also assists with evacuations during disasters and supports community events. Funded by donations and grants, members complete regular training to stay mission-ready.

Services Include:

  • Rescue Operations – Low-angle rope rescue, swift-water rescue, and dive support.

  • Evidence Recovery – Assisting law enforcement in locating and securing evidence.

Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy (HICAP) provides free, unbiased information and counseling to Medicare beneficiaries and people becoming eligible for Medicare within six months.

It older adults and people with disabilities in Nevada, Placer, and Yuba-Sutter counties.

Services include:

  • Information about Medicare benefits, coverage options, and enrollment
  • Counseling on supplemental insurance, long-term care insurance, and drug plans
  • Assistance with billing issues, appeals, and denials
  • One-on-one appointments with trained volunteer Medicare counselors

Be My Eyes provides free video support at a moment’s notice. Every day, sighted volunteers and professionals lend their eyes to solve tasks big and small to assist blind and low-vision people through a live video call.

How It Works

  • Anyone 17 or older may sign up as a visually impaired user or volunteer.
  • Calls are connected based on daytime time zone and language. The average wait time is about 15 seconds.
  • When a call is answered, a live one-way video (two-way audio) is initiated, allowing volunteers or company representatives to see what’s in front of the user’s camera and provide verbal support. Note: Specialized Help availability varies by region and company opening hours.
