211 Travel Training offers free individual or group instruction for how to use Nevada County Connects, the Western Nevada County public bus system. The travel trainer helps people create an individualized training plan to meet their specific travel needs and goals. They learn how to plan their trip, make their journey, and build confidence in using the bus system.

211 Travel Training offers three types of instruction
1. One-On-One Travel Training - Instruction in the skills necessary for independent travel on the public bus system.
2. Public Transit Orientation for Your Group or Organization - A group activity for explaining the local transportation system. Public Transit Orientation occurs at a designated location such as a classroom, home, or office. The orientation includes: overview of local transit system; use of map and schedules for trip planning; fares, passes, and payment options.

Services
The Behavioral Health Department provides a wide variety of Adult Mental Health Services to the public, particularly for Medi-Cal recipients and those with severe mental illness. These include Mental Health Services and Alcohol and Other Drug Services. County employees provide some services, while contracted individuals and organizations provide other services, with County monitoring.

Service Range
This continuum of care ranges from acute inpatient to routine outpatient services, and includes medication services, psychotherapy, residential services, wellness and recovery, care management, long term institutional care and vocational services. Adult Services monitors the delivery of services to ensure that State standards are met for quality, timeliness and authorization.

Nevada County Public Health Department (NCPHD) provides information about communicable diseases, reporting requirements, disease prevention, and related health information. The Communicable Disease Program works to stop transmission and minimize complications associated with communicable infections and diseases.

If people have questions about COVID-19, Long COVID, or other communicable diseases, the Public Health team is available during regular business hours to answer questions at 530-265-7258. Depending on supply, the department may have COVID-19 home antigen tests available to community members which can be obtained by calling NCPHD.

The Homeless Outreach and Medical Engagement (HOME) Team is a partnership between Nevada County, Hospitality House, Turning Point Community Programs and AMI Housing.

Call the HOME Team if you see or know someone who is experiencing homelessness. The HOME Team helps connect homeless individuals to services, including mental health services, medical care, public assistance services, and housing assistance services. 

The team can be reached by calling 530-470-2686 or emailing home@nevadacountyca.gov.
 
The HOME team consists of eight members: four outreach workers, housing navigators a peer supporter (someone with lived experience with homelessness), and a registered nurse. The goal of the team is to identify, engage, provide case management and housing support to highly vulnerable homeless residents of Nevada County.
