PLACER COUNTY CHILD CARE COUNCIL - PCOE

The Placer County Child Care Council was established in 1991 in accordance with state law AB 2141 to provide a forum for the identification of local priorities for child care and to develop policies to meet the needs identified within these priorities.

The Council consists of 20 members who represent consumers of child care, child care providers, public agencies and community members. Members are appointed by the County Board of Supervisors and the Placer County Superintendent of Schools.

The California Department of Social Services provides funding for the work of the Council, which includes the following: Conduct Local Child Care Needs Assessment, Advocate for the needs of families with respect to early care and education, promote public participation in the planning process, support the existing child care infrastructure by coordinating services that are locally available and serve as a forum to address the child care needs of all families in the community and all child care programs.

The International Rescue Committee provides services for refugees, asylees, victims of human trafficking, survivors of torture, and other immigrants. Each year, thousands of people, forced to flee violence and persecution, are welcomed by the people of the United States into the safety and freedom of America. These individuals have survived against incredible odds. The IRC works with government bodies, civil society actors, and local volunteers to help them translate their past experiences into assets that are valuable to their new communities.

The Safely Surrendered Baby Law responds to the increasing number of newborn infant deaths due to abandonment in unsafe locations.

Safe surrender sites are hospitals or other locations, typically fire stations, approved by the board of supervisors or fire agency in each county.  To request Safely Surrendered Baby Kits, please complete the order form, Safely Surrendered Baby Kit Order Form. Community Beyond Violence offers a 24 hour crisis line which is available 365 days a year to victims in crisis from domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, or dating violence, and for their friends or family members. Advocate/Counselors are available 24 hours a day for counseling and response to the hospital or law enforcement. Depending on circumstances, possible emergency transportation, food, and shelter may be available to those in crisis. All services are free, confidential and non-discriminatory.
