Assistance League Thrift Shop is managed and staffed completely by member volunteers and is stocked with gently-used clothing and merchandise. All funds raised at the Thrift Shop are returned to the local area through chapter programs.

Services and Volunteer Opportunities include:
  • Angels for Aging - Volunteers from Assistance League provide visits, gifts, and cards to residents of Assisted Living Facilities (ALFs) in our communities. ALF's who currently have an agreement for this program are below:
    • Raw Creek Care Center
  • Kids on the Block - An educational puppet program performed in schools to enlighten children (in grades 1, 2, and 3) about bullying, school safety, and learning differences.
    • Every single elementary school in Greater Placer area are sent the materials to sign up for this program
  • Dress for Success - A program providing women and men entering or re-entering the workforce with job appropriate clothing.

Offers a donation network where individuals, families and businesses are invited to donate gently used and new children's clothing at any time throughout the year. Then, one day per quarter, God's Closet will open for parents and guardians of children to come 'shop' free of charge, with the exception of a small admission fee, usually $1.00, from the selection of donated supplies.

Provides diapers to young, low-income families who struggle to provide diapers for their babies.  Distributes diapers throughout Nevada County at various locations.

Conducts frequent diaper drives and fundraisers to help keep the supply of diapers sufficient to meet the output of several hundred diapers per week.

Collects new and gently used clothing to be packaged with new socks, under garments, and a book which is then distributed to children in foster care or in crisis who have been referred by foster agencies, churches, outreach programs, school principals, teachers, and counselors.
