The Placer County Chipper Program is a cost-share program, funded by Placer County and CAL FIRE, that provides low-cost residential chipper service for Placer County residents, incentivizes fuels reduction, and promotes defensible space adherence and fire prevention activities. For $80 / hour, residents can utilize a crew that will chip and broadcast piled vegetation. Cost-share fees may be waived for landowners who meet the “Very Low Limit” as defined by the Placer County Department of Housing and Urban Development. Auburn Adventist Community Services, at the Auburn Seventh-day Adventist Church offers a variety of services for families and individuals who are in need, out of work or simply find that the month lasts longer than the paychecks every once in a while. It handles complaints related to zoning, housing, and other municipal codes. Staff work to ensure that neighborhoods stay safe, clean, and in line with city regulations.

Legal Services of Northern California (LSNC) provides free legal assistance to low-income people who meet eligibility requirements. Services range from referrals to representation, depending upon the client's needs, LSNC priorities, and resources available.

LSNC serves Nevada and Placer counties. Not all services are available in both counties.

LSNC provides counsel, advice, and representation to low-income individuals and seniors involving:

The Coordinated Entry system provides a telephone hotline that serves as a centralized gateway for people who are homeless and in need of services in Nevada and Placer counties.

People who are homeless may call 1-833-3PLACER (1-833-375-2237) in Placer County, and 2-1-1 in Nevada County (or 877-847-0499 from outside Nevada County). Callers will be asked questions to determine their eligibility for various housing programs. Their needs are shared with participating Homeless Resource Council of the Sierras' homeless service providers.

The Homeless Resource Helplines help homeless service agencies throughout Placer and Nevada Counties better coordinate services and prioritize needs. Homeless individuals have their needs assessed in a consistent manner, and the confidential data is placed into a centralized database, the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).
