Auburn Adventist Community Services, at the Auburn Seventh-day Adventist Church, has been around since the 1970s and offers a variety of services for families and individuals who are in need, out of work or simply find that the month lasts longer than the paychecks every once in a while. Legal Services of Northern California (LSNC) provides free legal assistance to low-income people who meet eligibility requirements. Services range from referrals to representation, depending upon the client's needs, LSNC priorities, and resources available. 

LSNC serves Nevada and Placer counties. Not all services are available in both counties.

LSNC provides counsel, advice, and representation to low-income individuals and seniors involving:

• Welfare

• Social security
• Medi-Cal/Medicare
• Civil rights/discrimination
• Disability rights
• Consumer rights
• Debt and credit issues
• Simple estate planning

The Coordinated Entry system provides a telephone hotline that serves as a centralized gateway for people who are homeless and in need of services in Nevada and Placer counties.

People who are homeless may call 1-833-3PLACER (1-833-375-2237) in Placer County, and 2-1-1 in Nevada County (or 877-847-0499 from outside Nevada County). Callers will be asked questions to determine their eligibility for various housing programs. Their needs are shared with participating Homeless Resource Council of the Sierras' homeless service providers.

The Homeless Resource Helplines help homeless service agencies throughout Placer and Nevada Counties better coordinate services and prioritize needs. Homeless individuals have their needs assessed in a consistent manner, and the confidential data is placed into a centralized database, the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS). Children's Behavioral Health
Nevada County Behavioral Health Children's Mental Health serves children and youth who have Nevada County Medi-Cal and meet moderate to severe criteria for Behavioral Health Treatment: recent psychiatric hospitalization, Probation or Child Welfare involvement, significant challenges at school, homelessness, or a complex combination of concerns that may involve trauma, depression or anxiety symptoms, and housing instability.

Complaints
The Department of Housing and Community Development receives and processes complaints from the public and from public officials related to living in manufactured homes and mobile homes. The agency protects families and individuals who live in mobile homes by inspecting mobile home parks for health and safety violations in areas where the local government has not assumed enforcement. HCD further protects consumers by enforcing regulations for those who build and sell manufactured homes. This agency receives and processes complaints from the public and from public officials related to living in manufactured homes and mobile homes. Individuals can submit a complaint online.
