To stay at The Gathering Inn, a referral through the Coordinated Entry system is required. To get a referral, call the Placer County Homeless Resource Helpline at 833-375-2237 (or 833-3PLACER).

The Gathering Inn Mid Placer is a 100 bed emergency housing and services program located at the DeWitt Campus in Auburn, CA.

The Gathering Inn is staffed 24/7 and employs 4 full-time Case Managers who work with guests to identify and work through barriers to housing by discussing how to increase income, providing a connection to education, and securing sustainable housing.

Case Managers then provide follow-up support for up to 1 year in an effort to reduce homelessness.

Mid Placer provides:

  • Safety and security on campus
  • 3 meals a day
  • Clean clothing
  • Bedding
  • Shower facilities
  • Use of electricity to run CPAP and Oxygen machines
  • Life skills courses
  • Drug and alcohol recovery meetings
  • Additional groups intended to help guests with individual development, and to transition guests from homelessness to housing

CarePatrol is a free senior housing placement service that helps families find independent living, assisted living, memory care, and in-home care options. CarePatrol is not an assisted living facility or direct housing or care provider.

CarePatrol assesses client’s care level needs, financial needs and general preferred locations to recommend the best and safest care options.

CarePatrol’s nationally certified senior care advisors review each community’s care history and state violations in order to recommend the safest options for assisted living for seniors.

CarePatrol can also help veterans and their spouses get aid and funding for assisted living and memory care. Clients who are veterans may be eligible for Veterans Administration Aid and Attendance benefits.

Though CarePatrol‘s office is located in Auburn, CarePatrol serves seniors all over Placer County and can travel to a location convenient for the senior being served.

The Foster Youth to Independence (FYI) initiative makes Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) assistance available to Public Housing Agencies (PHAs) in partnership with Public Child Welfare Agencies (PCWAs).

Placer County youth who may be eligible must get a referral from the Children's System of Care. Youth with a CSOC case worker should work through them. Youth without a CSOC case worker can call CSOC directly at 530-889-6700. Timeline for receiving a voucher may be lengthy.

As required by statute, an FYI voucher issued to an eligible youth may only be used to provide housing assistance for the youth for a maximum of 36 months. In addition to providing up to 36 months of rental assistance, youth must be provided supportive services to assist the young person on their path to self-sufficiency.

Unity Care  works to provide safe, stable and affordable housing for youth and young adults as they age out of foster care, and to provide them with the supportive services they need to achieve self-sufficiency.

Unity Care Housing Programs

  • Transitional Housing Program (THP) - must be referred by case worker. Program eligibility: Ages 18-20 years old, residing in western Placer County, early onset mental health symptoms, former foster youth receiving AB12 benefits.
  • Rapid Rehousing (RRH) - Program eligibility: Ages 18-25. At risk of homelessness or experiencing homelessness in Roseville or Rocklin.
  • Prevention and Early Intervention (PEI) program - Program eligibility: Ages 16-25. At risk of homelessness or experiencing homelessness in western Placer County.
