Placer County Public Health Department (PCPHD) partners with medical care providers in the community, and the California Department of Public Health, to prevent and control the spread of infectious diseases. We investigate and follow-up on reported cases and their contacts. Staff provide education to individuals and in group settings, and surveillance duties to reduce incidents and prevent additional cases.

It handles complaints related to zoning, housing, and other municipal codes. Staff work to ensure that neighborhoods stay safe, clean, and in line with city regulations.

Services include:

  • Investigation of reported code violations
  • Follow-up with property owners regarding compliance
  • Oversight of issues like overgrown weeds, illegal dumping, and unsafe structures

Legal Services of Northern California (LSNC) provides free legal assistance to low-income people who meet eligibility requirements. Services range from referrals to representation, depending upon the client's needs, LSNC priorities, and resources available.

LSNC serves Nevada and Placer counties. Not all services are available in both counties.

LSNC provides counsel, advice, and representation to low-income individuals and seniors involving:

  • Welfare
  • Housing
  • Social security
  • Medi-Cal/Medicare
  • Civil rights/discrimination
  • Disability rights
  • Consumer rights
  • Debt and credit issues
  • Elder abuse
  • Natural disaster outcomes

Auburn Interfaith Food Closet offers a Home Delivery Program that provides participants with enough food each month to make 12 meals for everyone in the household.

The home delivery service is not on-demand, but occurs monthly on a pre-established schedule. Each guest's order is customized monthly, to best serve their needs.

Medi-Cal is California's Medicaid program. This is a public health insurance program which provides needed health care services for low-income individuals including families with children, seniors, persons with disabilities, foster care, pregnant people, and low income people with specific diseases such as tuberculosis, breast cancer, or HIV/AIDS.

Medi-Cal is free or low-cost for California residents who meet eligibility requirements. Medi-Cal considers income, but there is no asset limit (bank accounts, cash, property, vehicles).

Most applicants who apply through Covered California and enroll in Medi-Cal will receive care through managed health care plans. In Nevada and Placer Counties, the managed care provider is Partnership HealthPlan of California (PHC). Medi-Cal is financed equally by the state and federal government. Qualifying clients include seniors, people with disabilities, people who have tested positive for COVID-19 and are in isolation, and individuals who only sometimes have access to transportation.
