Medi-Cal assistance is available through Human Services, one of six Divisions of County of Placer Health & Human Services.

Medi-Cal offers medical, dental, vision and mental health care to eligible individuals and families at little or no cost. If you are ineligible to Medi-Cal, affordable insurance plans are available through the health benefits exchange, Covered California, during their November through December open enrollment.

Everyone Matters Ministries (EMM) provides transitional housing for individuals, couples, and families through a fleet of recreational vehicles (RVs), with stays of up to 12 months.

Services include:

• A safe living space in an RV for up to 12 months
• Financial literacy support
• Employment readiness assistance
• Weekly food boxes (see Food Ministry below)

Food Ministry:

EMM partners with Feeding The Foothills to provide large boxes of food every Friday to each household in the program, helping offset grocery costs. Volunteers deliver boxes directly to each home.

Additional Information:

RVs are placed in local RV parks, and applicants must meet park income requirements (typically 2x the rent). Average space rent is around $800 per month but may vary by location.

The Harvest Community Church offers a drive-thru Food Closet for people in Placer county.

Services include:

• Free bags of groceries provided by the Placer Food Bank
• The added convenience of not having to leave the vehicle to receive food

Feeding The Foothills’ PantryToGo provides free drive-thru food distributions through its PantryToGo program. Each site offers both perishable and non-perishable food to anyone in need.

Feeding The Foothills feeds the hungry through its network of partner agencies, educating the community about hunger, and advocating for hunger relief.

Lighthouse Counseling & Family Resource Center, with locations in Lincoln, Roseville, Rocklin, and Auburn, provides low-cost and no-cost counseling and family support services to Placer County residents.

Services are available in English and Spanish, and are open to all ages.

The First United Methodist Church (FUMCL) operates a Food Closet that provides food and household essentials to Placer County families in need.

Acquiring food:

• Food can be obtained at the church office (6414 Brace Road, Loomis, CA).
• Four bags of food are offered once every month.

Generally, a Photo ID and Proof of Residency in the Loomis Basin (Loomis, Rocklin, Penryn, Ophir and Newcastle) is required.

Crisis counseling
Survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking can obtain crisis counseling at any time, day or night, either by calling the Stand Up Placer 24-hour Helpline at 1-800-575-5352, using our chat feature, or by coming into one of our service offices during business hours: 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. A trained advocate will assess the survivors’ situations, help them with a safety plan, and go over various options with them.

Shelter and safe housing
