Wayfinder’s Kinship Support Services Program (KSSP) supports grandparents, extended family members or close family friends who step up to raise children so they avoid the trauma of separation from their birth family. KSSP is free of charge to families.
Home to Stay – can call directly or be referred by a provider. Home to Stay offers counseling and support services to kinship and birth families who are at high risk for out of home placement in Placer County. Wayfinder provides short-term in home counseling and parent education to enhance parenting skills, building supports and mitigating behavioral health risks to youth and families. The Foster Youth to Independence (FYI) initiative makes Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) assistance available to Public Housing Agencies (PHAs) in partnership with Public Child Welfare Agencies (PCWAs).
Placer County youth who may be eligible must get a referral from the Children's System of Care. Youth with a CSOC case worker should work through them. Youth without a CSOC case worker can call CSOC directly at 530-889-6700. Timeline for receiving a voucher may be lengthy.
As required by statute, an FYI voucher issued to an eligible youth may only be used to provide housing assistance for the youth for a maximum of 36 months. In addition to providing up to 36 months of rental assistance, youth must be provided supportive services to assist the young person on their path to self-sufficiency.

YES! is a program of Whole Person Learning (WPL), a public agency that empowers youth and young adults to thrive in their communities by using a collaborative, individually tailored positive youth development approach.
Youth Coordinators help to accomplish goals by providing information and referrals for resources, identifying support systems, empowerment, education and advocacy, placement options. Program is focused on filling in the gaps when youth or young adults cannot access other supports to meet their identified needs. Support is voluntary and is offered on an as needed basis.
