The Adult Protective Services Program is intended to provide intervention activities directed toward safeguarding the well-being of elders and dependent adults suffering from or at risk of abuse or neglect, including self-neglect. A special 24-hour, 7-day a week, response program is available by calling Adult Protective Services: 530-265-1639 or 888-339-7248.

Home Safe is a homelessness prevention demonstration grant that will serve APS clients who are at imminent risk of homelessness or recently became homeless due to abuse, neglect, self-neglect, or financial exploitation.  The goal of the Home Safe program is to support the safety and housing stability of individuals involved in APS by providing short-term housing related assistance.

Enforces regulations for abandoned vehicles, building code violations, California State Housing Law, condition of existing structures that constitute a clear and present danger to the public, illegal solid waste, and zoning requirements for structures.

The San Juan Ridge Family Resource Center (FRC) provides families in the San Juan Ridge area with information and referrals to local resources, services and facilities on a drop-in basis for visitors of all ages.

NOTE: The FRC does NOT have any housing resources and does NOT have any gift cards, gas cards, etc.


Services the FRC does offer include computer, phone, fax, printer, children's play space, clothes closet, laundry station, food pantry, lending and reference libraries, information, referrals, parenting support, weekly children's playgroup, summer camps and periodic events.

Spirit Peer Empowerment Center offers support groups for people experiencing homelessness and/or mental health challenges.

Support services include:
  • Staff can administer NARCAN/Naloxone in case of opioid overdose
  • Housing Circle - assists with completing low income apartment applications, Craigslist searching, housing advocacy, and more. Call 530-274-1431 for meeting time info.
  • WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan) education, an eight week course supporting individuals to succeed at the goals they set for themselves, including looking at triggers and addictions and ways to get beyond them
  • Food distribution to those in need
  • Hot showers for program participants - They offer 5 showers per day, 10am-1:30pm. It's recommended to be there a bit before they open at 10am to get one as they are first come, first served. Shower is ADA-compliant, but not roll in. Please notify in advance if needed.
