The Nevada County Veterinary Disaster Response Team (NCVDRT) consists of volunteers who help with animal evacuation. Volunteers are trained in advance. UNTRAINED VOLUNTEERS SHOULD NOT SHOW UP AT ANIMAL EVAC SITES.

In the event of disasters and emergencies, the Animal Control department of the Nevada County Sheriff's Office oversees animal evacuation.

Offers services for pets including a spay/neuter assistance program, an emergency pet food bank, shelter adoptions.

Coordinates mutual and disaster aid, animal rescue networking, and offers free disaster preparedness kits. Agreements are in place with agencies and suppliers for set up and operation of temporary small animal housing facilities during emergencies or natural disasters.

Provides support through no-interest loans and grants for emergency veterinary care of stray and disadvantage pets. Funds are paid directly to participating 24/7 emergency hospital in the greater Sacramento/Placer County region.

The Chester Foundation would love to help, but is small and has limited funding. If you are approved for funding, the maximum would be a one time $500 donation. To see if you qualify for assistance, please follow the foundation's guidelines.
