Public Health Nursing is a program of the County of Placer Public Health

Public Health (PH) Nurses are Registered Nurses who have additional training and certification to work in the community and the field of Public Health. Our goal is to meet preventive health needs of families and individuals, and promote positive health behavior. Our nurses offer in-home care to new parents, children, and the elderly.

If you or someone you know could benefit from Public Health Nursing assistance, start by submitting a Public Health Nursing Referral Form (PDF) to our office. Once received, our nurses contact the referred individual to offer services.

Let's Eat Healthy!(a local name for CalFresh Healthy Living, UC Placer/Nevada Counties) provides comprehensive, hands-on nutrition education as well as produce tastings, gardening, physical activity, and cooking activities to qualifying schools, youth organizations, and adult groups. The vision of Let’s Eat Healthy! is to help CalFresh-eligible children and families in Placer and Nevada Counties to maintain healthy lifestyles through wise food choices and physical activity. 

Each school year theLet's Eat Healthy! program staff serves over 2,800 children by teaching nutrition lessons and providing evidence-based nutrition curricula, trainings, and materials to teachers in qualifying schools and area educators at no cost. We reach hundreds of CalFresh-eligible adults through workshops and newsletters as well as family events. Women, Infants, & Children (WIC) is a Supplemental Nutrition Program which helps families eat well, be active and stay healthy.

WIC helps families by providing:

• Checks - WIC provides special checks for healthy foods for each participant on the program.  These checks can be used at authorized WIC vendors/grocers to buy specific types and quantities of food. To view a complete WIC shopping guide, click the button to the right.
• Nutrition Information - WIC provides information about nutrition and health to help you and your family eat well and be healthy.
• Breastfeeding Support - WIC provides new and expecting moms with information and resources to get them ready to feed their new babies.
• Referrals - WIC can help you and your family find a healthcare provider and medical home and provide referrals to other social services such as Medi-Cal, CalWorks, CalFresh and more depending on your individual needs.
