The Blinded Veterans Association works to promote the welfare of blinded veterans so that, notwithstanding their disabilities, they may take their rightful place in the community and work with their fellow citizens toward the creation of a peaceful world.

BVA’s primary efforts include a National Field Service Program, advocacy before Congress and the Department of Veterans Affairs, scholarships for spouses and dependent children and grandchildren, and special initiatives such as Operation Peer Support/Project Gemini in which older veterans connect with those recently injured in Iraq and Afghanistan, including those from BVA’s sister organization in the United Kingdom.

The University of California welcomes individuals who have served or are currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces to apply for educational opportunities at any of our 10 world-class campuses.

Each UC campus provides detailed admission and transfer requirements for veterans, as well as dedicated veteran coordinators who can aid in the benefits process after admission.

    ​​Troops to College was created to attract more veterans to California public universities and colleges by making campuses more veteran friendly. The initiative was designed to showcase the full range of curricula and services available to veterans at California State Universities.

    The program is designed to help veterans, especially combat veterans, transition to civilian life and the college environment. Veterans and their families may enroll in a course about combat stress, post-traumatic stress disorders, and other issues affecting veterans returning to civilian life. The course is taught by a VA counselor who is also a combat veteran. The curriculum is specifically designed to increase the student veteran's academic, work, and social success. The class provides participants instruction in interpersonal skills, methods of adapting to civilian life and work careers, and techniques for managing military operational stress.
