The NCSOS Special Education Local Planning Area (SELPA) provides leadership and support to create and sustain educational programs for children with special needs by working closely with school districts, educational staff, parents and families, and community agencies.

Functions of the SELPA include:
  • Support for families including information regarding the IEP (Individualized Education Program) process, and meaningful participation in their child's educational program
  • Development of policies and procedures
  • Interagency coordination
  • Program Specialist support for students and districts
  • Assistance with problem solving and conflict resolution relating to the IEP process.

The Foster and Homeless Youth Liaison ensures proper educational placement, school enrollment, and checkout from school. Additionally, the Foster and Homeless Youth Liaison assists with the transfer of grades, credits, and records when there is a school change.

Tahoe Truckee Unified School District provides free meals for students through its Food & Nutrition Services.


Tahoe Truckee Unified School District (TTUSD) is providing free summer meals for children aged 18 and younger and any adults with developmental disabilities. Participants do not need to be enrolled in a TTUSD school site.
