The Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health (MCAH) Program provides pregnant parents and families with young children free home visits that are tailored to the families' specific needs.
Nurses can meet families in the comfort of their own home or by phone to provide:

This could include a move from a hospital, licensed skilled nursing facility, intermediate care facility for the developmentally disabled, state hospital for the mentally ill, developmental center, emergency shelter, temporary housing, or a California veterans home.
The program offers navigation to resources for financial support, case management, and assistive technology items to ensure a safe transition home.

Nevada County expectant and/or parenting youth, age 19 and younger, both male and female, are eligible to receive free case management services regardless of school attendance or school enrollment. Must be Nevada County residents.
Comprehensive case management services are designed to provide support in a variety of areas including but not limited to the following: education, health, childcare, transportation, housing, parenting skills, child development, and resources referral.
The program is run through the high school district, however school attendance and enrollment are not criteria for enrollment. The program is NOT site specific. The Young Parents Program is a district program and is offered to all sites listed in the High School District.

Hospitality House offers a year-round, temporary, overnight emergency shelter for homeless residents of Western Nevada County who have lived in the county for 45 days or more. ID not required.
Services available to those who are staying at the shelter include:

Spirit Peer Empowerment Center offers support groups for people experiencing homelessness and/or mental health challenges.
Support services include:
- Staff can administer naloxone Narcan in case of opioid overdose (naloxone is the drug, Narcan is a brand)
- Housing Circle - assists with completing low income apartment applications, Craigslist searching, housing advocacy, and more. Call 530-274-1431 for meeting time info.
- WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan) education, an eight week course supporting individuals to succeed at the goals they set for themselves, including looking at triggers and addictions and ways to get beyond them
- Food distribution to those in need
- Hot showers for program participants - They offer 5 showers per day, 10am-1:30pm. It's recommended to be there a bit before they open at 10am to get one as they are first come, first served. Shower is ADA-compliant, but not roll in. Please notify in advance if needed.

Homeless Resource Helpline

Coordinated Entry callers will speak to a 211 call specialist who will walk them through a series of questions. The caller’s answers are entered by the 211 call specialist into HUD’s Homeless Management Information System (HMIS), which can be accessed only by designated organizations that provide housing services. Callers have access to emergency shelter as well as long term/permanent housing by going through the Coordinated Entry process.
